Foodsterr challenges traditional specialty food retailers with affordable prices and quality produce from around the world

Chia seeds from Peru, almonds from California and organic acai berry powder from Australia – these are just a few of the globally sourced specialty products that Singapore residents can now enjoy at home at the click of a button, and without breaking the bank, with the launch of Foodsterr.com.

Foodsterr carries a wide range of top grade food items for both home consumers and businesses at affordable prices, including dried fruit, nuts, oats and seeds, grains and flours, and baking ingredients. The company’s produce is sourced directly from farms and niche producers such as Murray River Organics in Australia, and Campos Brothers Farms in the US. This, together with the larger package sizes of the company’s retail products, enables Foodsterr to ensure the best quality and price their goods at a fraction of the cost of regular shops in Singapore. For instance, Foodsterr prices its white quinoa at just $8.90 for a 500g bag.

Foodsterr offers both conventional and organic products, with a variety of gluten-free options and a host of nutritious superfoods. This includes difficult-to-find products like nut-free spreads, unrefined coconut sugar and the quinoa-like grain, canihua. The online store currently offers more than 100 specialty products in retail sizes. Customers can enjoy the convenience of having their orders delivered to their doorstep.

Foodsterr was created to give Singapore families easy access to quality & affordable food. Deepika Patel, co-founder and self-confessed “tiger mum”, wanted the best for her child without the hassle of importing or paying too much at specialty stores. Together with Nehal Patel, an IT head at one of the world’s largest agribusinesses, and Singapore food distributor veterans Ken and Gareth Davis, Foodsterr was founded with a vision of shaking up the local food industry.

“We are seeing changes in eating patterns for families and individuals as they now select carefully what they consume – like quinoa instead of white rice and organic rolled oats instead of porridge. Our deep relationships with our suppliers allows us to bring in the best products and competitive pricing to meet these demands,” said Nehal Patel, Managing Director at Foodsterr.

The company prides itself in being a responsible business, sourcing as many quality, sustainably produced products as possible. In addition, with each purchase, customers are encouraged to make a contribution to one of three charities, and Foodsterr will match a portion of their donations.
